Annette is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of operating, management, and venture capital experience. She has dedicated her career to driving growth and building value through successfully identifying, financing, and developing novel innovations into products and businesses in untapped markets—in early-stage startups and Fortune 500 companies. Her global corporate board experience spans multiple industries, including: compound semiconductors, energy storage, lighting, advanced materials, 3-D printing, and the Internet-of-Things.
In 2011, Annette was the Founder of the venture arm of Applied Materials known as Applied Ventures. She was responsible for developing the venture group’s investment strategy and execution plan. She sourced, led, syndicated, and managed Applied Material’s investments while also managing a group of investment professionals focused on other venture deals. From 1996 to 2000, she was based in Russia where she led the company’s expansion into Eastern Europe, chartering Applied’s first office in Moscow.
Other notable positions include: CEO of MindShadow.com—a technology spin-out of DaimlerChrysler’s Research and Technology Center, Investment Manager at DaimlerChrysler Venture Capital—where she was responsible for enterprise software investments, and CEO of Ketra (formerly Firefly Green Technology)—an innovative lighting company that has integrated LED technology and lighting controls to create a wireless, natural light experience for users.
Annette has been a member of the National Science Foundation’s SBIR/STTR Advisory Committee since 2014, and currently chairs the Committee on Deal Flow. She is a Kauffman Fellow, Class 11, where she was honored with the first Jeffrey Timmons Memorial Award. She is currently serving as a Mentor for Class 23.
Her philanthropic Directorships include seats on the Board of Directors at the Junior League of San Jose, the Exception Women Executives of San Jose State University, and Los Gatos Rowing Club. She also serves on the Board of GLAC (Global Leadership Advancement Center). Annette received a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Geology from the University of Houston and an MBA in Strategy and Finance from San Jose State University. She received the Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) Award in 2004 from the faculty at SJSU.
Mr. Weinberg is currently a private investor and Senior Advisor to Bon Voyage Management, a single-family office. Mr. Weinberg was employed at Carlson Capital from 1999 to 2019 in a variety of investment and operational roles, retiring as Chief Operating Officer and Partner in 2019. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Weinberg was Director of Investments at Richmont Capital Partners, L.P., the investment affiliate of privately-held Mary Kay Cosmetics. Prior to Mary Kay, Mr. Weinberg also held positions as an analyst for Greenbrier Partners, a value-oriented hedge fund, and as an associate attorney for the law firm of Baker Botts L.L.P.
Mr. Weinberg holds a B.A. degree from the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program and a J.D. degree, both from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Weinberg is a CFA Charterholder.
Mr. Weinberg is also a Director of SWK Holdings, Corp a NASDAQ listed company specializing in bespoke capital solutions for healthcare and life science companies and royalty owners.
Bill Ott joined EnPower’s Board of Directors in 2020, bringing 20+ years of experience in business development, sales, and management in the energy storage industry.
Mr. Ott is currently a Principal at William Ott Consulting, LLC, focused on the Li-Ion Energy Storage market. His wealth of experience includes Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Valence Technology, a global leader in lithium iron phosphate energy storage solutions; Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of ActaCell, Inc., a lithium-ion startup now part of Contour Energy Systems; and Vice President of Field Operations at Active Power (ACPW), a leading manufacturer of UPS and modular infrastructure solutions. In addition to these corporate roles, Mr. Ott was an entrepreneur-in-residence at StarTech Early Ventures.
Mr. Ott holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
